Arriving at South Beach Campground
Traveling to South Beach Campground with a 24′ travel trailer was a scenic journey in itself. We took U.S. Route 101, which runs through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Washington State. As we approached the campground, the road was well-maintained, but there were a few narrow spots to watch out for. The campground is first come, first served (FCFS) so they to arrive around the 11am checkout to secure a good spot. Also expect the place to be busy on sunny weekend or holidays, i overheard sunshine saying that since days there are queues outside at 8am!
Setting Up Camp
Upon arrival, we found that South Beach Campground offers a straightforward setup. The sites are relatively spacious, and we had no trouble maneuvering our 24′ travel trailer into place. The campground does not have hookups, so we relied on our trailer’s battery and propane systems. Be sure to check your water and waste levels before arriving, as the potable water is only available seasonally.
Exploring the Surroundings
One of the highlights of staying at South Beach Campground is the proximity to the beach. Just a short walk from our campsite, we found ourselves on the rugged, driftwood-strewn shores of the Pacific Ocean. Sniffy, our beagle, was in heaven with all the new scents to explore.

Our Experience with Sniffy
Camping with Sniffy was a joy, and the campground is pet-friendly. We kept him on a leash and made sure to clean up after him. He loved the beach and the cool, salty breeze. Here are some tips for camping with dogs:
- Leash and Control: Keep your dog on a leash and under control at all times to protect wildlife and other campers.
- Hydration: Bring plenty of water for your pet, especially if the weather is warm.
- Shade and Shelter: Ensure your dog has a shady spot to rest and a comfortable place to sleep.
