Exploring Sydney: A Weekend to Remember
Spending a weekend in Sydney is a treat for the senses. We based ourselves in the charming suburb of Surrey Hills, which allowed us easy access to many of the city’s treasures. With public transport options like the light rail conveniently at our doorstep, we ventured forth to explore Sydney’s iconic sights.
Saturday Adventures
Our Saturday kicked off with a scenic light rail ride to Circular Quay. From here, we made our way to the historic area of The Rocks for a hearty lunch.
- German Restaurant – Nestled in The Rocks, this spot offered delightful German cuisine, a perfect start to our day’s exploration.
- Copenhagen Ice Cream – After lunch, we treated ourselves to a creamy ice cream at Circular Quay.
With ice creams in hand, we strolled along the quay, taking in breathtaking views of the Opera House and the Royal Botanic Gardens. This made for an idyllic afternoon that allowed us to appreciate the vibrant energy of Sydney.
Sunday Brunch and Beach Walk
Sunday morning had us catching a bus to Coogee Beach to enjoy breakfast at Bathers Café.
- Eggs Benedict with Bacon – This dish was every bit as delicious as anticipated, providing a perfectly satisfying start to our day.
After breakfast, we embarked on a leisurely walk along the beach path towards the lookout. The soothing sound of waves and fresh sea breeze made this walk a highlight of our trip. We concluded this beachside morning with a stop at Coogee Pavilion for a much-needed coffee.
Wrapping up our weekend, we returned to our cozy hotel in Surrey Hills. After freshening up, we found ourselves at Squire’s Landing for dinner and beers. This bar is known for its amazing waterfront views, making our dinner an unforgettable experience.
Before heading back home, we stopped by SHUK Café for a coffee and chocolate croissant. This was a satisfying end to a wonderful weekend.
Soon after, it was time to pick up our Thrifty rental car and say goodbye to Sydney, promising ourselves a return to this dynamic city that never ceases to amaze.
