Visiting Huntington Dog Beach with Our Beagle Sniffy

Last weekend, my family and I decided to take a day trip to Huntington Dog Beach with our adorable beagle, Sniffy. If you haven’t heard of this place yet, you’re in for a treat! Nestled between Goldenwest Street and Seapoint Street, Huntington Dog Beach spans a 1.5-mile stretch of sand where dogs can run freely off-leash. For dog lovers like us, it’s pure paradise.

Why Huntington Dog Beach is a Must-Visit

Here are some stats that might surprise you:

  • Huntington Dog Beach sees over 600,000 dog visitors every year.
  • There are over 20 waste bag dispensers and trash bins, ensuring a clean environment.
  • The beach is maintained through a volunteer program with over 100 active members.

Given these impressive numbers, you’ll see why this location stands out as one of the best dog-friendly beaches in California.

Our Experience

When we arrived, Sniffy was ecstatic. There’s something incredibly joyful about watching him sprint through the surf and sniff around the beach. The atmosphere is enthusiastic and welcoming, with dogs of all shapes and sizes playing together. It’s a wonderful way for dogs to socialize and for us owners to unwind.

There are some rules to keep in mind:

  • Always keep an eye on your dog.
  • Make sure to pick up after your pet to keep the beach pristine.
  • Dogs should be well-behaved and non-aggressive.

Facilities and Amenities

The beach offers convenient amenities, including restrooms for us humans and ample parking spaces. For people like us who enjoy some coffee or a snack, there are several food trucks parked near the entrance.

Fun fact: Just a short walk from the beach is the delightful Old World Village, where you can explore shops and even grab a bite to eat with outdoor seating suitable for furry friends.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable day out with your canine buddy, I highly recommend visiting Huntington Dog Beach. Trust me, both you and your dog will have an absolute blast!
