Our latest adventure took us along one of Australia’s most iconic road trip routes: the Eyre Highway. Throughout this journey, a significant stop was at Madura Pass, a place we want to share with you not just for its scenic beauty, but for its practicality during road trips.
Our Journey Along the Eyre Highway
We began our trip in Western Australia, setting out on the Eyre Highway, which spans an impressive 1,675 kilometers from Norseman to Port Augusta. This highway crosses the iconic Nullarbor Plain, presenting vast landscapes and endless horizons.

Partway through our journey, we reached Madura Pass. Located approximately 680 kilometers from Norseman, Madura Pass provides a welcome break. The view is breathtaking; you get to see the expansive plains open up below you—a refreshing reminder of Australia’s diverse landscapes.

Not only is Madura Pass an excellent spot for photographs, but it’s also essential for refueling both our vehicle and ourselves.

- Check fuel levels: As we approached Madura Pass, we ensured our fuel levels were sufficient to reach the next station.
- Top up fuel: Although prices can be slightly higher, it’s a small price for peace of mind when crossing the Nullarbor.
- Restock supplies: The Madura Pass Oasis Motel provided us with not only a refueling station but also a shop to restock essential supplies like water and snacks.
- Stretch and relax: We took time to stretch and relax, allowing us to appreciate our surroundings and preparing us for the next leg of the journey.
