Exploring the Best Dog Parks in LA & Surrounding Areas with Sniffy

Beagle Sniffy playing at one of the best dog parks in LA and surrounding areas, enjoying a sunny day and open spaces to run free.

Exploring Los Angeles with my beagle Sniffy has been an absolute joy, especially when discovering some of the best dog parks in LA and surrounding areas. There’s nothing like seeing Sniffy run free and socialize with other dogs. Here are a few of our favorite dog parks that you might love visiting with your furry friend too.

Griffith Park Dog Park

Our first stop is Griffith Park Dog Park. With over 4,210 acres, Griffith Park is one of the largest urban parks in North America. The dog park itself is spacious, offering separate areas for small and large dogs. It’s located at 4730 Crystal Springs Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90027. Not only does Sniffy have the freedom to roam, but I also enjoy hiking the nearby trails.

Lake Hollywood Park

Next up is Lake Hollywood Park. Its scenic backdrop of the Hollywood Sign makes for some of the best Instagram moments with your pup. Located at 3160 Canyon Lake Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90068, this park doesn’t have a dedicated off-leash area, but many local dog owners treat it like an informal off-leash haven, especially during the weekdays.

Silver Lake Dog Park

The Silver Lake Dog Park, found at 1850 W Silver Lake Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90026, is another favorite of ours. Divided into two sections—one for large dogs and another for smaller ones—this park provides ample space for dogs to play safely. Plus, it’s a great spot to meet fellow dog owners and share some pet parenting tips.

Sepulveda Basin Off-Leash Dog Park

The Sepulveda Basin Off-Leash Dog Park is a gem in the San Fernando Valley. Located at 17550 Victory Blvd, Van Nuys, CA 91406, this park spans 6.5 acres and offers three separate areas for small, medium, and large dogs. The park features plenty of shade, water fountains, and waste stations. Sniffy always has a blast here.

Runyon Canyon Park

While Runyon Canyon Park isn’t exclusively a dog park, its popularity among dog owners can’t be ignored. Situated at 2000 N Fuller Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046, this iconic LA hiking spot allows dogs to be off-leash in certain areas. The views are breathtaking, and the community of dog owners is incredibly welcoming. Sniffy loves hiking the trails alongside me.

Hermon Dog Park

Last but not least, Hermon Dog Park is a fantastic park located at 5568 Via Marisol, Los Angeles, CA 90042, in the Highland Park area. This off-leash park offers separate areas for small and large dogs, a double-gated entrance, and plenty of benches for dog owners to relax while their pets play.

Whether you’re a local or just visiting with your furry friend, these dog parks in LA and surrounding areas provide ample opportunities for exercise, socialization, and fun. Happy exploring!
