As we approached the final leg of our epic Melbourne to Perth road trip, anticipation filled the air. Traveling such a vast distance across the Australian continent is an experience that combines breathtaking landscapes, diverse weather, and unforgettable moments. Our journey took approximately 36 hours of driving, covering a whopping 3,500 kilometers. Now, as we roll into Perth, the sense of accomplishment is immense, and the joy of reuniting with family awaits us.
The Long Journey Across Australia
Our trip started in Melbourne, a vibrant city known for its cultural diversity. Heading out early, we knew we had a long and exhilarating road ahead. The journey across Australia is not just a drive; it’s an adventure full of incredible sights.
- Melbourne to Adelaide: The first leg took us to Adelaide through the scenic Great Ocean Road, which added a bit of travel time but was well worth the detour.
- Adelaide to the Nullarbor Plain: Crossing the Nullarbor Plain was an experience in itself. This vast, treeless plain is about 1,200 kilometers wide and offered unique challenges and incredible views.
- Crossing into Western Australia: After crossing the South Australian border, we continued into Western Australia. Our stop at Norseman marked the end of the Nullarbor, bringing variety in landscapes as we approached Perth.
